Welcome to Jacquelyn Kammerer Cattaneo Fine Art

The Raven is my favorite bird, not only among the smartest birds, but one of the most comical.  I enjoy watching them and do so on a daily basis.  I have purposely created a feeding area across the street from a large picture window in my home.  From this window I have been observing these beautiful creatures for many years.  Their intelligence is exhibited in the manner in which they move and manipulate objects as if they were tools, created for them to use in obtaining whatever it is they want. They are very loyal to each other and mate for life.  They get into squables with each other and the dominate one wins, the submissive will go off to itself.   They exhibit affection to each other and have the ability to be taught how to talk.  As a child I had a pet raven that somehow had its wings clipped and could not fly.  It would ride on my shoulder and was able to say "Hi!" I have loved this species most of my life. They live a very long time!  My grandchildren call me "Gaagii" which is the Navajo word for crow, there is no Navajo word for Raven.  The crow belongs to the same family as the Raven, which is the Corvis Family. I feel very special being compared to such an intelligent creature and have "Gaagii" on my vehicle's license plate!
