Praying Children's Series~ In Reverence
This is a very special series of paintings that are of children praying. When my mother was dying, I needed to find some manner in which to deal with the loss. While searching through my files, I found photographs that I had taken many years before. In the files were photographs of children. I knew how much joy they had brought when I shot the photos and decided to paint each image. Knowing that my own mother had been raised in orphanages and foster homes as a child, prompted me to concentrate on portraying children bringing a sense of peace to an uncertain world. My mother was very protective of all children and loved each child for their honesty, beauty and the hope that they represent to society. The collection grew to 21 and took several years to complete.
