This is a very special series of paintings that are of children praying. When my mother was dying, I needed to find some manner in which to deal with the loss.  While searching through my files, I found photographs that I had  taken many years before.  In the files were photographs of children.  I knew how much joy they had brought when I shot the photos and decided to paint each image.  Knowing that my own mother had been raised in orphanages and foster homes as a child, prompted me to concentrate on portraying children bringing a sense of peace to an uncertain world.  My mother was very protective of all children and loved each child for their honesty, beauty and the hope that they represent to society. The collection grew to 21 and took several years to complete.

Studio Corner is the name of the artist's studio where all of the paintings from the Grimshaw fine Art Gallery are now located. The name, Studio Corner originated when Cattaneo had a steady flow of students taking art lessons from her. Due to the economic situation that America is in at present, Grimshaw fine Art has now closed its doors.  Any future sales may be handled through Studio Corner and this website. . FANCY DANCER is the unigue and unusual dance proformed by many Native American Indian Tribes.  The painting captures the quick silver movement of the dancer .  It is a limited edition, signed and numbered four color separation print.

I am proud to announce that the painting of St. Michael's Mission has been selected as one of the BEST  200 PAINTINGS IN PAINT AMERICA'S 2009 COMPETITION.  It will not travel, as TIME TESTED,  but has
recieved documentation for excellence in depicting America's landscape, history and buildings. ST. MICHAEL'S MISSION  has now been purchased by Ms. Marietta Pomeroy of Gallup, NM.  It is in her collection of several Cattaneo portraits of her special canine friends. The soft pastel, on-site paintings was completed in the artist's studio and has very special meaning to her family.  Her father-in-law, Mr. Auro Cattaneo, learned how to cut stone in 1926 while helping Don Emilio Limas a very famous Mexico stone sculptor, build this Mission.  He continued to build many stone missions in and around the Diocese of Gallup located in Arizona and NM.
